Founded in 2012, SolarExchange.com is the leading global solar marketplace facilitating B2B online auctions for direct materials and finished goods. SolarExchange.com is building a global community that promotes an organized way of doing business, where companies can collaborate with buyers and sellers, large and small, from anywhere in the world.

2.Who can use Solar Exchange?

Solar Exchange is a B2B service. Memberships are offered to professionals within the solar industry. To register, you must complete our registration form, which requires you to provide specific information about your solar business. All information will be verified prior to granting a Solar Exchange Membership.

5.What is the cost to become a member?

Buyers can register for a free Membership on Solar Exchange where you can view auctions, place bids and buy materials and products. Buyers can also submit Request for Quotes (RFQs) to specific suppliers (Sealed RFQ) or to all suppliers (Open RFQ) and receive bids from suppliers on those RFQs.

Seller Membership pricing is published on the Plan & Pricing of SolarExchange.com. Seller Memberships are quoted at a monthly cost based on a one-year commitment.

In order to view auctions on Solar Exchange, you will need to register for a Membership.

7. What exactly can you buy and sell on solar exchange.com?

Solar Exchange provides a trading platform for the solar industry where users can buy and sell direct materials and finished goods. Examples include silicon, wafers, cells, modules, inverters, racking, and other materials used in the manufacturing and installation of PV systems.

8. What is a Solar Exchange Certified Member?

The Certified Member Program is available to all registered Buyers and Sellers of Solar Exchange. Becoming a Certified Member signifies to all trading partners that your company is an established organization within the solar industry, thereby providing greater buyer/seller confidence in trading activities.

9. How do I become a Solar Exchange Certified Member?

The Certified Member Program is available to all registered Buyers and Sellers of Solar Exchange, depending on the Solar Exchange plan you select. When you select the Professional Plan or the Enterprise Plan, your enrollment into the Certified Member program is automatic. Members selecting the Basic, Promo or Standard plan can elect to become a Certified Member for an additional fee by simply clicking on the Certified Member icon on the SolarExchange.com homepage

10. What do I receive when I become a Solar Exchange Certified Member?

As a Solar Exchange Certified Member, a Certified Member logo will be displayed on your user profile, product listings, and buyer information pages. This logo signifies that you are an established organization within the solar industry, thereby providing greater buyer/seller confidence in trading activities. You will also have the right to display the logo on your company website that links to Solar Exchange website. Solar Exchange Certified Member auction listings will periodically be included in high profile “Featured Auction” pages where buyers will have focused access to your products.

11. What is required to become a Solar Exchange Certified Member?

The Certified Member Program is available to all registered Buyers and Sellers of Solar Exchange. Your company will need to be an established business entity operating in good standing, within the solar value chain in order to become a Certified Member. Solar Exchange will review your business qualifications at time of application to ensure applicants pass basic criteria. Qualified applicants will receive a Certified Member logo, which will be displayed in your profile and other pages. To learn more about the Certified Member program, pleae visit the Certified Member page. You can either select the Professional or Enterprise plan to automatically enroll in the Certified Member Program. If you have chosen the Basic, Promo or Standard plan, you can get a membership by paying an additional fee. For more details plan options please check the Plan& Pricing page.

12. Does your company offer any buyer protection?

Yes, Solar Exchange offers escrow services powered by Escrow.com, a leading third-party online escrow services provider. Escrow.com acts as a professional third party escrow agent to handle all the payment activities involved in the business transactions at Solar Exchange site. Escrow.com payment platform administers the collection and disbursement of all escrow payments in the contracts executed on Solar Exchange. Escrow services available on the Solar Exchange site allows transactions to happen in a safe, secure and reliable manner over the Internet. The funds are held by Escrow.com until the buyer inspects and accepts the merchandise; or it receives the appropriate written or oral instructions to do so. Once the buyer is satisfied, the payment is released to the supplier.

16. How do I obtain my password if I forgot it?

Should you forget your password or have issues with logging onto Solar Exchange, please contact our customer care team to request a reset.

17. Can I register as a buyer and seller?

Solar Exchange allows individuals from solar companies to register as buyers, sellers or both.

18. How long do auctions last?

Auction durations vary. When posting an auction listing, the seller can select the auction duration.

19. How long does it take to receive the product?

The timing between winning an auction bid settlement through Escrow.com or directly with the seller, in conjunction with shipping/receiving determines when you will receive goods settled through Solar Exchange. We suggest you communicate with the listing seller for all goods that you would like to purchase through Solar Exchange to understand shipping terms and date of receipt.

20. How are the products and materials I win in an auction shipped?

The method by which shipment takes place is generally determined by the seller. If you have specific shipping requirements, we suggest you communicate with the listing seller to coordinate shipping terms.

21. What happens if buyer refuses to accept product?

Upon winning an auction bid, the seller will generally require payment settlement prior to shipping the materials or product. Solar Exchange suggests buyers and sellers consider using Escrow.com for control and protection of transaction finality.

22. If I’m not satisfied can I get a refund?

23. Who pays for shipping?

The determination of who pays for shipping is generally determined by the seller. If you have specific shipping requirements, we suggest you communicate with the listing seller to coordinate shipping terms.

24. Can auction listings be settled in any currency?

All auction listings in Solar Exchange are established for settlement in US dollars. Should a seller desire to transact in Euros, Escrow.com allows settlement in both USD and Euros.

25. What is a Request for Quote (RFQ)?

A Request for quote or RFQ is a method by which buyers can state specific purchase requirements to source goods based on specific terms. RFQs can be “Open” (available to all suppliers for quoting), or “Sealed” (available to only specific suppliers) for quoting. RFQs are an excellent and low-cost solution to sourcing materials and finished goods.

26. When I initiate a Request for Quote (RFQ), can I upload specification requirements and other purchase criteria?

Yes, when posting an RFQ, you can state requirements, terms, specifications and other purchase criteria and require bidders to respond to each requirement.

27. Does Solar Exchange allow me to sell both materials and finished goods?

Yes, Solar Exchange is a trading platform that supports sale and purchase of both materials and finished goods.

28. Does Solar Exchange allow me to sell non-solar items?

No, the Solar Exchange trading platform is exclusively for solar professionals trading in solar materials and finished goods.

29. I’m a homeowner; can I buy products off Solar Exchange?

No. Solar Exchange is a trading platform that is only accessible by established solar professionals.

30. How do I get started?

Becoming a Solar Exchange Member is easy. Simply register on http://www.solarexchange.com/ to gain access.

31. I received negative feedback, how can I correct the issue?

We allow users to rate the success and experience of their buying and selling transaction. Doing so allows the community to see how the success history of members participation. To ensure you receive positive feedback the best practice is to communicate effectively and encourage open communication on all transactions prior to bidding. Should you receive a negative feedback, we encourage you to contact the member and resolve their concerns.

32. Where is Solar Exchange located?

Solar Exchange headquarters is located in the heart of Silicon Valley, in Menlo Park California, with service offices in China, Germany and India.

35. Does Solar Exchange support both "Forward" and "Reverse" auctions?

Currently Solar Exchange only supports Forward auctions. Reverse auctions are coming soon.

37. If I purchase one Membership for my company, can anyone in the company use that Membership?

Membership licenses are granted on a “Named” basis and in accordance with our license agreement, access to Solar Exchange cannot be shared. If you need more than one access, consider alternative Plan options that are available on our Pricing and Plans page.

38. Why do I need to upload a copy of my business license to become a Member?

We use business licenses as a form of validation to ensure that all applicants for Membership are qualified solar professionals. If uploading a business license presents a problem, please speak with our Customer Care team to come up with a reasonable alternative.
